Governor Rendell Announces $92 Million Investment In Water Infrastructure Projects

Harrisburg, PA – Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced the investment of $92 million in 16 drinking water and wastewater projects serving communities in 20 counties. "The funding awarded today by PENNVEST will provide a cleaner environment, greater economic opportunity and improved infrastructure health," Governor Rendell said. "As our economy continues to recover, it is important that we do everything that we can to maintain our commitment to improving water and wastewater systems that will benefit residents and businesses."

Of the $92 million total, $58 million is for low-interest loans and $34 million is offered as grants. Read More...

Water-saving demos offered at Ronald McDonald House for 'Fix a Leak Week'

Scranton, PA – The Ronald McDonald House of Scranton is now leak free thanks to Pennsylvania American Water, who held a live demonstration in the facility Monday to raise awareness of common household leaks that waste water but are easy to fix.

March 15-21 was the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's "Fix a Leak Week," so to show how little leaks can add up to thousand of gallons of wasted water every year, Pennsylvania American Water recruited Scranton plumber Mike Meredick to demonstrate how anyone can find and repair leaks in their own home. As he installed water-saving plumbing fixtures, such as faucet aerators, in the house's 11 bathrooms, he offered simple but important tips on conserving water in the average home. Read More...
